A new PreACT test for Sophomores will debut this year

ACT, Inc. has announced ( New PreACT test) they will be offering a new test for Sophomores called the PreACT test. The test is designed to help students prepare for the ACT exam which is taken annually by more than 3 million students. It will test for English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. There will not be a writing portion of the test on the PreACT.

Feedback from the Counselor community indicated there was a strong demand from students for a test that would simulate the experience of taking the ACT, and give them feedback on areas that need work before taking the ACT their junior year. Like the ACT, the new, paper-based test will be scored on a 1-to-36 scale. Students will have about two hours to complete the questions, which will come from retired ACT exams. Schools, districts, and states will be charged $12 for each test taker.
